Recovery Support

The iMe Recovery Facilitation Training serves to train facilitators such as educators, community leaders and counselors to run Recovery Support Groups for individuals seeking to find freedom from various behavioural addictions such as gaming, pornography, social media etc. but with a strong focus on pornography.
The program was developed in partnership with Aquila Counseling Services, and has been running with a high success rate over the last 2 years. Our aim is to train as many like-minded facilitators as possible - in order to multiply the efforts of the onslaught of the digital age.

The training is geared to equip you to run an iMe Recovery program over a period of 12 weeks.
The program is set up as an outpatient support group; meeting once a week; for 12 consecutive weeks; with 6-10 group members.

The Program takes the participants through 3 distinct phases:

• PHASE 1 - KNOW - building of knowledge about the dangers of the addiction and its detrimental effects.
• PHASE 2 - GROW - A process of self-discovery and exploration of the underlying deficiencies that make us more vulnerable to addiction.
• PHASE 3 - GO - Finding our purpose, Fine tuning our plans and getting ready to remain steadfast in a digital environment.

You will get training on:

• The relevant addictions; prevalence; effects on the individual (physical, mental, spiritual) and the effects on society

• The multi dimensional approach to finding freedom, i.e. Spiritual, Mental, Physical

• Support Group management; dynamics and techniques

• The content of the 12 week program

• Practical tools for group accountability

It's a heart thing - you need to have compassion and patience and a heart full of love for those in addiction.
It is open to Educators, Counselors, Professionals, Caregivers, Community leaders etc.
And subject to 2 Character references and details of your own accountability structures.

The cost for the facilitation training is R5000.00

It includes the training event and the 170 page Facilitator Manual

In addition you will have access to ongoing support in the form of:

  • Exclusive online video (refresher) tutorials,
  • A group leader forum,
  • Direct email communication with the iMe Movement team,
  • Access to up to date stats and information and other resources,
  • Advertising collateral for your groups,
  • Administrative tools: Intake forms, screen tests etc,
  • Access to an online portal for easy ordering of workbooks etc.

How much can I charge for a group?

We recommend that you charge between R500 and R1500 for the 12 week course

Start small, but be sure to cover your cost for the workbooks and that all your expenses are paid i.t.o. Tea Coffee and refreshments.

It’s not about the money for me; is there an opportunity to recover my training costs?

You should be recovering your Training costs and more by the second 12 week group you facilitate.

Should there be a charge at all?

Yes we firmly believe there should be a cost to the course for the participants. Psychologically it bears more meaning and value, and will encourage a higher rate of completion.

This should at least include payment for the workbooks R200 and Qustodio software license R700, and cover any cost you may incur for refreshments and venue costs (if any)

Must everybody sign up to Qustodio?

Yes – unless they have a viable and proven software protection that reports on their digital behaviors.

Addicts are known to be deceitful and will try anything to keep a back door open for access somewhere.

It is important that they consent to full accountability of all their devices.

And the software is the only way to help them to achieve it.

How does the sign up process work?

Each member pays his or her first monthly payment of RX at the start of the group. And thereafter every month, for the next two months as agreed with between the facilitator and the participant. (3 Payments of RX)

The Facilitator orders the workbooks and licences from the iMeMovement facilitator portal. And the licence keys and workbooks for each of the participants are sent to the facilitators.

Where do I host the group?

Where ever you find a suitable space that is comfortable, private and accessible for the duration of the 12 weeks.

What about my current employment at my church, school, community?

We are happy to send you as much information for you to convert the Authorities that be to make the iMe recovery program part of their endeavors, albeit on a part time/after hours basis. It also helps if there is a legal covering of sorts.

We will give you as much support as possible and even sit in on some of your group sessions where possible.

Does the iMeMovement Recovery Facilitation Training qualify me as a Counselor?

No, It empowers you to facilitate a support group and share scientific information and statistics and psycological self-development tools.

What about the psychology tools that I am not familiar with?

We recommend that you get a psychological counselor or Psychologist to volunteer (or be paid) for the 4 GROW sessions that focus on the psychology of the participants. It is key to build relationships with a Physiologist to whom the serious cases can be referred for further one on one counseling, and vise versa, the Psychologist could refer clients that need recovery support to the group.

In the cases where this is not possible – the iMe video’s could be used to unpack the psychological tools for the group members.

Can I as a female run a male group and vice versa?

Due to the sensitive, confidential and explicit nature of this kind of addiction, we highly recoment that men facilitate men’s groups and women facilitate women’s groups.

We see enough of a need in both sexes for counselors to deal with their own sex, even if it is in the form of a co-dependent support group. The program has also been done in a couples format, with husbands and wife’s or partners sitting together for the knowledge build part of the weekly conversation and then they split up for more specific support: i.e. the addicts to account for their week and share their progress; and the co-dependents to discuss their healing process.

We have seen that real accountability is a vital key to success on the road to recovery. Keep every member of the group accountable by means of the Qustodio app, designed to give you a weekly report with insight into the members time spent and content consumed.
